How the animal is chosen
From your birth date using Lichun, the solar term in early February, as the year boundary. That matters if you were born in January or the first days of February, because most consumer sites use Lunar New Year instead and will give you the previous animal. Your element and polarity come from the same calculation, not from the animal alone.
What it looks like
Ink-wash brushwork in violet-grey, on a deep indigo field, with fine gold constellation lines around the animal. No text, no border, no watermark. The same house style as the artwork across this site, so the wallpaper does not look like it came from somewhere else.
What it is not
