Privacy Policy

My Zodiac Guide is a Chinese zodiac reading and digital download service. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it short enough to actually read.

1. Who we are

My Zodiac Guide (“we”, “us”) operates https://www.myzodiacguide.com. For any privacy question, including requests to access or delete your data, write to privacy@myzodiacguide.com. We are the data controller for the information described below.

2. What we collect

Information you give us.

Account and order details: your name, email address, and — if you buy something — your billing country and any tax details your jurisdiction requires.
Birth details: date of birth, and optionally time and place of birth. We ask for these only when you request a personalized reading, because that is the minimum needed to calculate a Chinese zodiac chart.
Content you submit: comments, contact form messages, and any text you enter into our free calculators.
Uploaded media, if you send us a file.

Information collected automatically.

Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view.
Cookies and local storage: a language cookie (English or Chinese), a shopping cart and session cookie, and a security token set by our bot-protection check.
Server logs: standard web server records kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.

We do not ask for, and do not want, government ID numbers, health records, or precise payment card numbers.

3. Why we use it

To deliver what you asked for — generating your reading, delivering your PDF or wallpaper, and providing access to your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
To run the shop — processing orders, issuing receipts, handling refunds, and answering support email. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
To keep the site working and safe — spam filtering, bot protection, caching, backups, and fraud prevention. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning service.
To improve the product — understanding in aggregate which pages and readings people actually use. Legal basis: legitimate interest, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible.
To send email you opted into — newsletters or product updates. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every message.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-site behavioral targeting.

4. Payments

Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. Your card or wallet details go directly to the processor; we never see or store full card numbers on our servers. The processor sends us only a confirmation, the last four digits, and the billing country so we can match the payment to your order. If you choose an offline payment method, we see only the order details you enter.

5. Your birth details and the readings we generate

Birth date is personal information, and we treat it that way. It is stored with your order so you can re-download a reading you paid for, and so we can answer support questions about it. It is not published, not shown to other users, and not included in anything shareable unless you choose to share a result yourself.

Readings may be drafted with the help of automated language tools running on our own infrastructure. Your birth details are not sold, and we do not permit third parties to use them to train their models.

6. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with service providers who help us operate the site:

Our hosting provider, which stores the site database and files.
Automattic (Akismet), which screens comments and form submissions for spam.
Cloudflare, which provides the bot-protection check on forms.
Our payment processors, for orders you place.
Our email delivery provider, for messages you opted into.
Our backup service, which stores encrypted copies of the site.

Each of these providers is bound to use the data only for the service they provide to us. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

7. Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. The ones you are likely to encounter are:

A language preference cookie, so the site remembers whether you are reading in English or Chinese.
A cart and session cookie, so your shop selections survive a page reload.
A security cookie from the bot-protection check on our forms.
Caching cookies, which help pages load quickly.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the cart and security cookies will break checkout, so we recommend allowing them if you intend to buy something.

8. How long we keep it

Order and invoice records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six to seven years.
Account data: kept while your account is open, then deleted or anonymized on request.
Comments: kept until you ask us to remove them, or until the post they belong to is removed.
Server logs: rotated within a few weeks.
Newsletter subscriptions: kept until you unsubscribe.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Know whether we hold information about you, and get a copy of it.
Correct information that is wrong.
Delete your information, subject to records we must keep for tax or legal reasons.
Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
Receive your data in a portable format.
Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
Complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@myzodiacguide.com from the address associated with your order, and include your order number if you have one. We respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for a reasonable request, and we will not treat you differently for making one.

If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know the categories of information we collect and disclose, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We do not sell personal information.

10. Where your data is stored

Our servers and those of our providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer data from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

11. Children

This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, or under 16 in the European Union. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use HTTPS across the site, restrict administrative access, keep software patched, and take encrypted backups. No service is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
